What does Wordcount do?

On https://wordcount.oardi.com, you will find a clean setup:

  • A text area where you can paste or type any text
  • Instant feedback
    • Word count
    • Character count
    • Sentences count
    • Average sentence length
    • Estimated reading time
    • Word density

Why another word counter?

Sure, there are plenty of online word counters and text tools but:

  • Many of them run on bloated platforms, packed with tracking and ADS. (go ahead and search for one and try it on your own)
  • I wanted something that works instantly, is minimal, fast and distraction-free.
  • For my own usage: blog posts, tutorials, code snippets.
  • No ads, no cookies and no data storage.

The idea & tech behind it

  • minimal code base, focused on one thing: Input text -> get stats.
  • A clear, lightweight UI: headline, metrics.
  • Privacy by design: no cookies, no server-side requests.

Who is Wordcount for?

  • Blog authors: quickly check length or word density of your posts.
  • Students & writers: make sure your essays or reports fit the word limit.
  • Developers / content creators: check documentation or tutorial text length without switching tools
  • Anyone who simply wants to know: how much text is this?

What´s next?

A few ideas I have for future updates:

  • more statistics: i.e. average word length
  • export options: download results as CSV or JSON

TL;DR

Wordcount isn´t a massive platform and that´s the point.

If you just want a reliable way to count words and characters then Wordcount is for you.

Try it out, paste some text, check the numbers and feel free to share feedback or feature ideas!
